Snow Days used to be the most exciting news I could get as a child. Even throughout my college career the mere idea of a snow day still filled students (myself included) with excitement. I remember if the slightest snow flurry fell from the sky I was hoping, praying, pleading in my head to the college dean for a chance to have a 'snow day'. There were times when it barely snowed at all and the frustration of not getting out of class for the few drops of snow on the ground made me beyond frustrated. It always seemed that we would get the biggest snow fall on the weekend instead of a week day.
I've realized after all the excitement and joy I experienced as a kid hearing it was going to be a snow day...it never, ever, EVER goes away. Unfortunately now that I have a "big girl job" snow days rarely ever happen.. even when there's no sign a road still exists under the thick snow, the chances of actually getting off due to the weather is slim to none. I'm trying to learn to embrace the non existent snow day.. the one like today where the majority of people in our area are off work, out of school, playing in the snow, and drinking hot cocoa. Truth is, I would LOVE to join them- including my hubby, who is at home playing with our dog who for the first time in his puppy life is experiencing snow. Although I've received the most adorable videos of Auggie stepping out onto the snow for the very first time, I want to be at home too! Call me selfish, but who wouldn't want to play 'kid' for a day and enjoy this beautiful snow day here in East Tennessee?
