Every year my hometown hosts a 3 day music festival in the middle of down town. It's always so much fun seeing everyone and watching live music all weekend. Dr. Dog and Moon Taxi were my favorite this year! Besides all the great bands performing, it is so neat to wonder around the different pop up shops and see what people in our area have to offer. The majority of the things for sell are home made and hand crafted. If your ever looking for a fun laid back artsy music festival, definitely check out the Rhythm & Roots Reunion!

So my cousin over at A Lovely Lewis Life started doing a "Top 3 on Thursday" and I told her I wanted to join in on this and list my top 3 favorites from this week! Every week I find new things I love or something new and exciting that happens during that week. This weeks favorites include my sister's birthday, my favorite fall snack, and family pictures! 1.) My baby sister became legal this week! It's so sad how fast she has grown up but so exciting watching her grow into a beautiful young woman. I'm not just saying this because she is my sister, but she is truly the most genuine, kind hearted person you will ever meet. Sometimes I give her a hard time because I don't even think she would hurt a fly, seriously. She is so smart, she will accomplish great things in life as she continues to grow. Instead of posting some of our most recent pictures, I dug up a few oldies to reminisce on our younger days. The day my baby sis was born, I remember being so excited to finally get to hold her Holding the best present on Christmas Spring pictures with this little cutie Kaley's face and hand is priceless. First Summer spent loving on her 2.) Every Fall season I wait for my favorite snack to hit the aisle in Kroger. If yall have not tried Seneca Caramel Apple Chips I recommend going to get some quick. The are addicting! They are also gluten free and a semi healthy snack! 3.) Family photos! This past August we had some family pictures made for our parents 25th Wedding Anniversary! I was in love with how these turned out (and I love how all the dogs in the family posed for these pictures too!) I finally got around to printing some of these photos out this week. Now, I'm on the hunt for some frames to put them in. Here are a few of my favorite ones from our little fam!
This past weekend would have been absolutely perfect if the Vols wouldn't have lost in double over time. The weather couldn't have been better, not too hot, not too cold. We had a blast at our first home opener tailgate. It is always a good time singing along with the band and having all your friends together in the same place! The crowd was going crazy as we were leading the game 17-3 for the longest time (we actually set a record for loudest game played in Neyland). Unfortunately it ended as another heartbreak for the Vols and all their fans. It's pretty upsetting when the fans do their part and show up checkerboarding the stadium in a sold out game only to lose 31-24. O'well, I still have hope! Go Big Orange!! How awesome are Tennessee fans, pulling this checkerboard off in a sold out stadium of 102,455 people. The family doing a shotski to start off the tailgate! Some necessary tailgate banners we created! Taking over the mic for a classic Johnny Cash song. Pulling Junior Smokey up into the crowd with us. Go Vols!
We spent this Labor Day weekend in Nashville for the Tennessee opening game. I have to mention the most important part about this weekend is often forgotten for its true meaning and covered up with the excitement of celebrating a 3 day weekend. I remember doing a report on Labor Day back in high school and realizing how hard American workers had it years ago. Since most of us spend the majority of our time working during the week, could you imagine what it would be like to not have any labor laws? This holiday gives recognition to the success of the labor movement and allows us to celebrate the resiliency and achievements of American workers. With that being said, I hope everyone celebrated their extra day off accordingly. Mine was spent cooking, cleaning, and watching Netflix with my sweet pup, who was also exhausted after a weekend in Nashville. This past Saturday's game was so much. This was the first time UT had played a game in the Titans stadium, or at least the first time I had ever been to a UT game there. We set up a tailgate and celebrated just like any other time. I will say, this was the hottest game I have ever been to! It was 96 degrees and sunny outside. When you are singing, dancing, and drinking with all your friends outside for hours, you would have thought you were in the Sahara. The game was so much fun and our seats were awesome. Due to the extreme heat, the girls and I all left at halftime. We continued to celebrate while drinking "bushwakers" at a place down town. For those of you who don't know what this drink is, it's like the greatest chocolate milkshake ever, but for adults only. Definitely a must try if you're ever in Nashville. The game was a success with a 59-30 win. Go Vols!
This week has been filled with all things fall! Number 1 reason for my excitement for this season is Football!! Tomorrow marks the first Tennessee football game of the season!! We are heading down to Nashville later today to stay for the weekend- Tennessee plays Bowling Green at the Titans stadium and we all all super pumped! We have the Knoxville tailgate crew setting up in Nash! This should be a super fun game since it's the first game of the season, we are playing in an NFL stadium, and we are sitting on the first row of the 50 yard line behind the our team! GO BIG ORANGE!! I have also been prepping my house with all my fall decor. We had ZERO fall decor last year so when it went on sale in late November I snatched a few things up for dirt cheap! I fully plan on doing the same this year to add to my collection. My sister and I started a tradition last year, the first week of fall we will bake something 'pumpkin spice' since that is obviously the go-to for all things fall. The tradition continued this year with pumpkin spice cupcakes! |
