Sawyer's nursery is officially complete!! I seriously could not be more excited with how it turned out. It has become my favorite room in the house and I love hanging out in there, it's so peaceful and the natural lighting that comes in from the one and only window in the room is actually so impressive. I can see the sun rise in the morning from sitting in his rocker and looking out the window which I love. Auggie and I spend almost every morning in Sawyer's room. My pup loves to rock with me or hang out in baby boys teepee. I've gone looking for Auggie on multiple occasions only to find him cuddled up asleep in the rocker or nestled inside the teepee, it is the cutest. The lighting in some of these pictures might look a bit different because I took some images during mid day and others when I was in hanging out in there in the morning before the sun came up. When we found out we were having a boy I started looking on Pinterest for nursery inspiration. I knew what kind of nursery I wanted if we were going to have a girl but I had no clue on what I wanted for a little boy. After searching many blogs for ideas, I came across one that had mountains painted on the main wall. I instantly fell in love and sent Bryan a picture of the room and told him we had to do something similar. Here was the original blog I found and then shortly after I found this blog on how to do a mountain mural on your own. My thoughts originally after knowing I wanted the mountain mural on the wall was to hire a painter. We didn't want to spend the money on a painter and the blog showed us step by step on how to paint it. Bryan and I taped the mountains how we wanted them and then he did the rest. I was so impressed with all his hard work and creativity he did in Sawyer's room, he has outdone himself around the house lately prepping for our baby. I loved the idea of a mountain theme for the nursery since Bryan and I spend a lot of our spare time hiking in the mountains around where we live. We plan on taking Sawyer on hikes with us as soon as we can. I hope he grows up to love the mountains just as much as we do. I didn't want to do dark colors for his room, so I spent hours picking out the exact paint colors I wanted. I went with three different gray color tones, all from....Walmart! Once we painted the room, we (Bryan and family, not me) put together all the nursery furniture. After that was all put together it was time to decorate, my job! I spent multiple days at Hobby Lobby and waited for the pieces I found that I wanted to go on sale. FYI never pay full price on anything from there, just ask an associate when the item will be on sale next. I always paid at least 50% off on everything I purchased. Everything on his walls (and the teepee) came from there except the Samuel Prayer sign which came from my in-laws. That sign means so much to us because we prayed so hard for a little baby. I had to put it where I would be most in his room, above the rocker. All of the furniture, except the changing table (which I bought off a friend) came from Amazon, even the rug. Amazon has become our best friend lately. We order from there all the time and with 2 day shipping directly to our house what could be easier? It is also so much cheaper! I could have bought the exact same crib and rug in store for double the price. I knew with the cost of a baby we needed to be careful not to spend a fortune on the nursery. His bedding sheets and changing sheets I made on babybedding.com and then I registered for back up sheets that go along with the mountain theme on Target which my sister and one of my friends purchased for me. The longest part of the entire process I think was picking out each decor piece. I was laughed at in the beginning because we started on the nursery so early, but I was SO excited to work on it and now I am happy I did. I am a planner and I would have been scrambling if I would have waited any longer. So a word of advice, don't wait on the nursery, it's better to get a head start then to be worrying about it during your third trimester when babies can make their appearance at any time and you become absolutely exhausted, like me. I cannot wait to see our sweet Sawyer in his room in almost 10 weeks (or maybe sooner)! I can't believe I am in the third trimester and his room is officially done. The wait game is on. I couldn't be happier with his nursery and I loved every minute of planning it and watching it come together. Shout out to my hubby for all his hard work in there too! Until Sawyer arrives you can find us hanging out in our new favorite room of the house.

Last weekend my best friend Emily and her mom Michelle threw me the most wonderful baby shower for our little boy, Sawyer John. I remember having to tell Emily over face time that we were expecting since she moved to Nashville a few months ago. I wanted to be able to tell her in person but I couldn't wait any longer. I took a screen shot of her reaction to the news and I would post the picture if I thought she wouldn't kill me (it's still one of my favorite pics to look back on). She started crying immediately and had the most heartfelt reaction to our news. Literally the very next day she sent me a text saying her and her mom wanted to throw my baby shower when the time came. We picked the date after my first trimester ended and I couldn't wait until September. For those of you that don't know me I am sort of a control freak planner and very particular about how I want things. When I met with her mom to start planning I was a bit concerned because her mom wanted to take care of absolutely everything, she wanted to plan the entire thing down to the smallest detail and not have me do or worry about a thing. I was a little nervous because I am used to planning and doing things exactly how I want them... but I am soooooo happy I let them take the reins on this shower. I did not have to worry about a single thing. They did everything, I just had to show up. Talk about being thankful! I'm a bit sad that I don't have pictures of everything from the shower because it was so beautiful. I was socializing the entire time and enjoying every minute of the celebration for Sawyer. If I didn't have pregnancy brain (which I swear exists) I would have thought to have someone go around snapping pictures of the food, decor, shower pieces, and so on. Anyways, I am working with what I do have so I can look back on this day and remember every bit of how special it was. The invitation: The theme of the shower was to be classic and southern. It made perfect since considering we live in the South and they own one of the oldest homes in our town. The Hosts: Emily and her mom Michelle. The Location: Emily's family house, built in 1845. It's an old plantation house and made the most beautiful baby shower location. The menu: Michelle made pretty much everything! It was all sooo delicious. I just wish I could have had a picture of all of it. We had ham and swiss sliders, tea sandwiches, mini cucumber sandwiches, spinach dip, fruit, and so many deserts. My favorite was her mom's homemade almond cake. Hands down the best almond cake I've ever had. We had sweet tea, lemonade, and mimosas to drink. This is the only picture I have from the food tables and it happens to be before the food was set out, ugh. The delicious almond cake she made. The place setting/tables: Her mom let us use her antique plates and sterling silver. Entry way table and Shower Game: We did a thumbprint "guestbook" which is not pictured, but it turned out so cute. We had one game which was the Mommy and Daddy Photo Challenge (the guests had to guess how old Bryan and I were in our kid pictures). The guests also wrote out some words of advice for once Sawyer arrives. After we all mingled for awhile, ate, and played the photo game we opened gifts. I was so thankful for everyone that came to celebrate our baby boy. I would say at least half of the guests traveled to come in that day and it truly meant so much to me to have my closest friends and family there with me. The day was perfect and being able to celebrate this blessing of life with those I love was the best part. I know baby Sawyer is going to be loved (and spoiled) by so many. We are forever grateful for this pregnancy and how God has blessed us abundantly throughout these last few months. We owe this entire pregnancy to him and can not wait to meet Sawyer come December. HOW FAR ALONG: 28 weeks 5 days! SIZE OF BABY: A large eggplant! He is around 15 inches long and should be close to 3 pounds. WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO: We have completed his nursery, I'll be posting pictures hopefully later this week. My best friend threw me a baby shower, also can't wait to post on it! I have been so busy between work, football season starting up, getting the house ready, and prepping for baby I feel like I haven't had time to breathe. I am enjoying this exciting time and it's gone by faster than I ever imagined, I almost want it to slow down just a little bit. I can't believe I'm already 7 months pregnant! EXERCISE: Still walking some throughout the week. BODY CHANGES: The bump and hips are out, although everyone says I look small, the belly is measuring right on target. I have been getting headaches about once or twice a day that last around 30 minutes. We are thinking they are tension headaches due to my hormones because my blood pressure has stayed normal and no signs of preeclampsia or anything like that (which often causes headaches). I noticed after the first football game I went to and being on my feet for most of the time during the tailgate, my feet and ankles looked like balloons. If I am on my feet for a long period of time I have officially began to start swelling. I've got an annoying rash around my eye that won't seem to go away. Oh and my crazy weird dreams have now started to become nightmares. SLEEP: Less and less and less. I used to not be able to function without sleep, but I go to the bathroom between 3 and 6 times a night now. Between that and the scary dreams, sleep has become less prominent. People tell me this is my body prepping me for lack of sleep when little man comes. BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: I would say this weekend in general. On Friday, we went down town for Rhythm and Roots (a music festival that comes to Bristol once a year). On Saturday we all went to one of our tailgate family members house for a little party to watch the Tennessee and Florida game and celebrate baby Sawyer. We had our normal tailgate foods plus some extras in honor of Sawyers celebration (my favorites, almond cupcakes from our local bakery and the host made some amazing chocolate covered strawberries with his initials on them!) We all ate, they drank, and watched Florida beat us on a last second play, booo. We opened some gifts and cant wait to deck Sawyer out in his new Tennessee gear. On Sunday, my best friend threw me my official baby shower with my closest friends and family. The day was amazing and I can't wait to post about it! WORST MOMENT: None this go around, but in other news.. I PASSED MY GLUCOSE TEST! I was really worried about the test because I am addicted to sweets like I've never been before, but by the grace of God I passed! And now I'm celebrating a little bit too hard... FOOD CRAVINGS: Cake! Almond cake to be exact. Also pumpkin soup from our local bagel company. I am obsessed with this stuff and they only make it about once a week so I call them every day and pester them to find out if they are serving pumpkin soup for the day or not. Pretty sure they now know my number by head and ignore my call. I'm not kidding. Last time I bought some the lady told me I just needed to buy the quart size soup. I'm sure it wouldn't reheat as good if I did that, so I said no and went on my way. I know they probably hate me and my annoying antics calling about pumpkin soup daily but oh well, I just wish it wasn't so good. SYMPTOMS: Bathroom breaks all the time, headaches, and vivid nightmares. Other than that I still feel great. WHAT'S GOING ON WITH BABY: Baby can now blink his eyes, produce tears, and sense light from darkness. Studies show babies start to have dreams at this point too. He should be settling down into the proper position for birth around now. I have another ultrasound in a few weeks that will make sure everything looks good and he's not breech. I can't wait to see him. He has developed his own sleep patterns at this point and if he is anything outside of the womb like he is inside we have ourselves a night owl. He is most active at night around 10pm and almost every time I wake up to go to the bathroom his is kicking around like crazy. His main job now is continuing his brain development, finalizing his organs, and gaining fat! NEXT APPOINTMENT: 30 weeks for a regular prenatal apt. Then at 32 weeks I will have my third trimester ultrasound! TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: At my 27 week apt I had gained 25 pounds. MATERNITY CLOTHES? My cousin lent me all kinds of maternity clothes!! Thank you, Brittany!!!! I really was hoping not to buy much maternity items because they are so pricey. She let me borrow all kinds of jeans and tops. They are so comfortable! I have been wearing dresses pretty much my entire pregnancy but now that we are getting into fall and cooler weather I know the jeans and sweaters are a must. DIET: Ever since I found out I passed my glucose test I can't stop eating sweets.... ugh. MISS ANYTHING? Sleeping throughout the night. ANYTHING MAKE YOU QUEASY OR SICK? Nope! GENDER: Boy. HAPPY OR MOODY? Still happy!! Exhausted, but happy! I love love love being pregnant. I've honestly never felt better. Also my hubby is so excited for baby boy! We both are truly over the moon and I love him now more than I ever have. This process has been such a blessing. Here are a couple pictures from this weekend! We had so much fun! Laughing at Rhythm and Roots because I wore a belly shirt to the music festival last year and this year I'm wearing a baby...oh how the times have changed.. and I love it! We can't wait to meet our newest Volunteer! I had my sister take this picture once we got home from my baby shower.
