Last weekend my best friend Emily and her mom Michelle threw me the most wonderful baby shower for our little boy, Sawyer John. I remember having to tell Emily over face time that we were expecting since she moved to Nashville a few months ago. I wanted to be able to tell her in person but I couldn't wait any longer. I took a screen shot of her reaction to the news and I would post the picture if I thought she wouldn't kill me (it's still one of my favorite pics to look back on). She started crying immediately and had the most heartfelt reaction to our news. Literally the very next day she sent me a text saying her and her mom wanted to throw my baby shower when the time came. We picked the date after my first trimester ended and I couldn't wait until September. For those of you that don't know me I am sort of a control freak planner and very particular about how I want things. When I met with her mom to start planning I was a bit concerned because her mom wanted to take care of absolutely everything, she wanted to plan the entire thing down to the smallest detail and not have me do or worry about a thing. I was a little nervous because I am used to planning and doing things exactly how I want them... but I am soooooo happy I let them take the reins on this shower. I did not have to worry about a single thing. They did everything, I just had to show up. Talk about being thankful! I'm a bit sad that I don't have pictures of everything from the shower because it was so beautiful. I was socializing the entire time and enjoying every minute of the celebration for Sawyer. If I didn't have pregnancy brain (which I swear exists) I would have thought to have someone go around snapping pictures of the food, decor, shower pieces, and so on. Anyways, I am working with what I do have so I can look back on this day and remember every bit of how special it was. The invitation: The theme of the shower was to be classic and southern. It made perfect since considering we live in the South and they own one of the oldest homes in our town. The Hosts: Emily and her mom Michelle. The Location: Emily's family house, built in 1845. It's an old plantation house and made the most beautiful baby shower location. The menu: Michelle made pretty much everything! It was all sooo delicious. I just wish I could have had a picture of all of it. We had ham and swiss sliders, tea sandwiches, mini cucumber sandwiches, spinach dip, fruit, and so many deserts. My favorite was her mom's homemade almond cake. Hands down the best almond cake I've ever had. We had sweet tea, lemonade, and mimosas to drink. This is the only picture I have from the food tables and it happens to be before the food was set out, ugh. The delicious almond cake she made. The place setting/tables: Her mom let us use her antique plates and sterling silver. Entry way table and Shower Game: We did a thumbprint "guestbook" which is not pictured, but it turned out so cute. We had one game which was the Mommy and Daddy Photo Challenge (the guests had to guess how old Bryan and I were in our kid pictures). The guests also wrote out some words of advice for once Sawyer arrives. After we all mingled for awhile, ate, and played the photo game we opened gifts. I was so thankful for everyone that came to celebrate our baby boy. I would say at least half of the guests traveled to come in that day and it truly meant so much to me to have my closest friends and family there with me. The day was perfect and being able to celebrate this blessing of life with those I love was the best part. I know baby Sawyer is going to be loved (and spoiled) by so many. We are forever grateful for this pregnancy and how God has blessed us abundantly throughout these last few months. We owe this entire pregnancy to him and can not wait to meet Sawyer come December.
