Finally, a weekend that truly felt like it was Fall. It was UT's bye week this past weekend so we had no plans to travel to watch football. We really didn't have any plans at all which was also nice for once. We knew the weather was going to be chilly out for the first time this year. I am a lover of Summer but 80 degrees in October isn't cutting it. I like having all 4 seasons and in our area we are lucky enough to get to experience that (for the most part). It is always beautiful around here this time of year but with the warm weather the peak weekend for the leaves to change was pushed back. It worked out good for us though considering this was our only weekend at home during the football season. There is still a lot of green but the leaves are finally starting to change colors. I believe this week there will be more color to the trees before they fall. Friday a couple of my friends and I went and walked the trails at the park near my house. We had our family pictures done in this park last year because it's always so pretty during the Fall, the park itself has trails on the water and creek side which make for a peaceful and scenic walk/run. I took this picture above during our walk to give you an idea of how pretty it is here in East Tennessee during October. Saturday we had a couple people over to watch some football at the house. After the games were over and a few drinks were in everyone's system we had the bright idea to check out Horror at Industrial Park (aka a haunted adventure based on realistic horror events). If you know me you know I am the worlds biggest scaredy-cat. I can't even watch Law and Order before bed without waking up during the middle of the night from nightmares. BUT since the drinks were flowing I thought it was a fabulous idea and it ended up being a lot of fun. Meanwhile waiting in line to get inside, I had this guy come after me with a chainsaw...... Sunday we headed out early for a drive and hike down the Blue Ridge Parkway (Asheville side). I absolutely love days spent traveling this beautiful road and there is no better time to do it than during October. Dad and I recently hiked to Craggy Pinnacle and Mount Mitchell during June but we decided to go back with Bryan and Kim to see the views since the leaves began to change. It was cold but perfect hiking weather. The views were still incredible as ever AND I witnessed SNOW for the first time since last Winter. It was just the oh so faintest bit of snow but hey it still counts. I had to take a picture but Bryan made fun of me because unless your looking for it, it just looks like a random picture with grass, if you look close enough in the background you will seeeeeee! Below are some more pictures we took on Sunday. A few were on top of Craggy Pinnacle, some on top of Mount Mitchell, and some pulled over on the side of the Blue Ridge.
